Mary Pfister is an award-winning Frederick, Maryland artist who specializes in commissioned oil portraits as well as oil paintings of birds, nature subjects, landscapes and still life. She has taught hundreds of artists in her downtown Frederick classroom since 1992. The studio is located at 437 North Market St. in Frederick, Maryland and includes gallery exhibit rooms which are available for short term rental. The large classroom is the site of ongoing year-round classes in oil and acrylic painting as well as workshops in painting and portraiture. Workshop topics include: Focus on the Features (portraits), How to Draw and Paint Hands, The Portrait from Life, How to Achieve a Likeness (portraiture), Solving the Mystery of Color, The New Acrylics, and others. The classroom is also available for short term rental to art instructor and crafts instructors for workshops. Mary also has a selection of frames for oil and acrylic paintings available. Mary's students come from not only Maryland, but Virginia, Pennsylvania and surrounding areas to learn more about representational and realistic painting. The classes are available to beginning painters as well as more experienced. Classes are strictly limited in size. Classes include personal mentoring at each easel, mini and full length demonstrations, text handouts, slide shows, group critiques, old master and contemporary master analysis of paintings and biannual group show exhibit opportunity.
