MTI provides medical training to consumers, businesses, doctors, nurses and other medical professionals with the most up to date instruction using cutting edge technology to enhance skill levels for healthcare in the community. MTI Simulation Center is a multi faceted training facility offering traditional classroom training, online training and a state-of-the-art virtual hospital setting.
Classroom and online training is geared towards those nurses who want to fulfill their continuing education requirements and who want to refresh their skills in specific none lab courses i.e. pain management, blood borne pathogens and infection control. But, for those nurses wanting to train in specialized areas of nursing, MTI will offer hands on classes using state-of-the-art simulation training.
Simulation is a training and feedback method in which learners practice tasks and processes in life-like circumstances using simulation manikins (different from "mannequins"). The simulators are full-size manikins whose major organ systems have been programmed to respond appropriately to a user's interventions. The manikins are controlled by computer software at the control room or from an adjacent room. A variety of clinical settings may be replicated. Physiologic parameters that can be simulated include: ECG, invasive and non-invasive blood pressures, oxygen saturation, central venous pressure, pulmonary artery pressure, intracranial pressure, and body temperature.
Although scenarios are typically developed to match learner's needs, many challenging scenarios are currently available for use at the simulation center. Students and practicing health care providers can utilize the facility on a regular basis. The medical simulation center will targettraining to a wide array of professionals throughout the health care continuum, including the students from the school of medicine, nursing, dentistry, allied health and public health; staff area medical centers, pre-hospital care, as well as our surrounding community. Our clinical programs incorporate the latest technology by simulating a real clinical environment. Training also emphasizes essential safety aspects such as teamwork and communication. Extreme and challenging medical conditions with fidelity sufficient to achieve suspension of disbelief on the part of the trainee can be created on demand.
MTI will also offer mobile simulation service which provides simulation to outside areas including medical center patient rooms, none health care areas of medical centers and areas in the community (paramedic training) where simulation sessions can be controlled, recorded and viewed via state-of-the-art multimedia carts in the practitioner's real environment.
A specialized course that MTI has developed especially for hospitals is a beginning and advanced case management class.
