Born and raised in Northeastern Minnesota, Dan Neff has employed his talents in many ways from music to glassblowing. His undergraduate study based in Outdoor Education is a major culmination of Dan's passions. In the spring of 2003 Dan took a Community Education class on lamp working. Ever since, he's been hooked. He then began a 3 year apprenticeship program learning the basics of the craft. In a give and take relationship between school and glassblowing, Dan is always working on a project. Starting in the spring of 2006, Dan began demonstrating his glass work at festivals and fine art shows. Using his teaching background, Dan effectively communicates with the audience the technique he's using. Since 2006 Dan has learned from many local and international glass blowers including: * Jes Durfee * John Kobuki * Gateson Recko * Drew Frits * Dan Grumbling * Filip Vogelpohl * Salt * Mike Shelbo * Barry Lafler * Matt Eskuche * Julie Riggs * Carmen Lozar * Bob Snodgrass * Marcel Braun Dan is currently writing a business plan to open a glass blowing center here in Duluth. At the center, the public will be able to learn about borosilicate glass art through class's demonstrations and guest teachers. Supplies can be purchased at the center and studio time is available for rent. Watch the home page for updates.
