New River Valley Community Services
Established in 1969, New River Valley Community Services is a public, nonprofit agency providing behavioral health services to residents of Floyd, Giles, Montgomery and Pulaski counties, and the city of Radford in Virginia. Located in Blacksburg, Va., it provides community-based programs for mental health and retardation, substance abuse and prevention services for children, the elderly and adults. The agency offers various programs, such as emergency assessments, short-term counseling, relapse prevention and substance abuse services. Additionally, it offers FLASH, New Horizons Crisis Stabilization, Valley Employee Assistance and Raft Crisis Hotline programs. It also provides testing services for adults on probationary periods and parole and adult and family services. Its residential rehabilitation services include treatment for chemically addicted individuals and education in addiction. It also offers psychiatric and diagnostic assessments, medication evaluation and administration, crisis counseling, support, safety monitoring services and transportation during treatment and supervision. New River Valley Community Services is licensed by the Virginia Department of Mental Health and is approved by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.
