Northern Plains Electric Cooperative is largest geographical area covering distribution electric cooperatives in more than 15 cooperatives throughout North Dakota. It serves over 10,900 members including several small towns and employs nearly 45 staff members. The corporative is one of approximately 600 electric cooperatives throughout the United States that have braded themselves as Touchstone Energy Partners. As a Touchstone Energy Partner, Northern Plains must undergo a compliance process every other year to document that it serves its customers with the highest levels of excellence. It distributes electricity supplied by Basin Electric Power Cooperative and Western Area Power Administration, as well as is a member of the North Dakota Association of Rural Electric Cooperatives and the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association.
