Founded in 1983, the Northpoint Training Center is governed by the Department of Corrections of the Commonwealth of Kentucky. It is a medium-security facility that houses approximately 1,200 male inmates. The center offers education, social and employment training programs, as well as treatment services for offenders. The Northpoint Training Center has more than 1,100 general population, over 60 special management and nearly 40 minimum-security beds. It houses general population inmates in approximately five open-bay dormitories. The center houses the offenders of special management unit in single cells. The Northpoint Training Center provides alcoholic and narcotics anonymous classes for inmates suffering with alcohol and drug abuse problems. The center offers various technical programs in the areas of masonry, electricity and carpentry. The Northpoint Training Center also operates the Institutional Religious Center. It additionally provides recreational and college programs. The center is accredited by the American Correctional Association (ACA).
