The Oakland Girls Choir was established in 2005 by Director Kathryn Barnard to give girls an opportunity to experience the joy and beauty of music and to sing in a supportive community of mutual respect and encouragement. Singers come to the choir from cities and townships throughout the Greater Pittsburgh Region.

Locally, the Oakland Girls Choir has performed at the New Hazlett Theatre, the Byham Theater, the Benedum Center, the Kelly-Strayhorn Theater, the Carnegie Library, the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, the Pittsburgh Opera, and the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

The Tour Choir traveled to Europe in Summer 2008 and will travel to England and Wales in Summer 2011.

Wilkinsburg Sings! is an after-school program taught by Kathryn Barnard at the Hosanna House Child Development Center in Wilkinsburg. Boys and Girls in grades 1-3 participate in this program. Girls in Wilkinsburg Sings! are invited to audition for the Oakland Girls Choir.
