Nearly two years ago, our lives were changed forever. We were blessed with a home; but not just any home, an Operation Finally Home built by Permian Homes.

To some it may look like a roof over our head, but to us, and especially to my husband, this home has meant the difference between life and death.

Like many, even though my husband is a Purple Heart recipient, even though he has wounds that are visible and injuries that cause him pain and limit his physical abilities in some way…the worst of his wounds are the ones not visible to the naked eye.

The morning after receiving keys to our home, as we laid together in his mother’s home, unable to sleep in the excitement and awe of the gift we had been given, my husband turned to me and said “Maybe now I won’t wake every day wanting to kill myself.”

And while having a home hasn’t solved every concern, nor has it taken away all of the bad dreams, the overwhelming depression coupled with survivor’s guilt, the anxiety that a crowd can create or alleviated the difficulty of leaving the house because the burden and struggle with PTSD is just too much that day; having a mortgage free home has done much to help my husband heal.

With this we have seen great improvement in my husbands overall ability to manage stress, to socialize on a small scale, and even to occasionally attend school events and performances so as to be an active participant in our children’s lives outside of the home. Things that were becoming increasingly difficult, if not impossible just two years ago, before we were blessed with our home.

Given the cost of living and raising five active children in today’s world, if we had a mortgage to worry about, or even if we had rent to pay, my ability to be home and tend to my husbands needs, to help manage his case with the VA, to work with our local Congressman and ensure he receives the treatment he needs…well, it just wouldn’t have happened. Not without continuing to live in the conditions we lived in before; legally homeless, crammed into a place not meant to house more than one household, sharing one bathroom with 7 people, our boys sleeping in the living room because we simply did not have another room to give.

Because before we were blessed with this home, that was the only way we could afford for me not to work.

And neither situation, us being able to cover rent with me working 50+ hours a week to make that payment, or living in a rundown home, splitting costs with another family member, or another family altogether…neither of those situations were helping my husband in the way he needed. And his suicidal spiral continued to gain in speed and strength.

Permian Homes and Operation Finally Home literally saved my husband’s life.

I cannot speak highly enough about either organization.

We are so happy with our decision to build with Permian Homes. We were able to customize our house exactly how we wanted, from little things like selecting the paint color to bigger custom changes, like extending the covered back patio. We've enjoyed everyone we've worked with and feel like they really care about our concerns and questions along the way. We recommend Permian to anyone looking to build in this area!

Permian Homes is Great. I bought a home from them at their East Pointe Community. There were a few bumps along the way, but they always took care of them and let my wife and I know what was going on. I have built several homes in the past and there were a few nice things that I did not expect from Permian. My wife loved to customize our closets at no additional charge and I love our utility bills. I went from a 1000 square foot home to a 2400 square foot home and I am now paying less than I was in the smaller home.

They really made a great experience for us. At the final walk through they had out the red carpet and had Permian Homes robes for my wife and I. It is the small things like that that they did the whole time.

There were a few issues, like they painted our trim color wrong. But they apologized and quickly took care of the issue.

All in all, I would recomend them to anyone if you are looking for a quality built home.

My wife April and I bought a town home by parks legado. We have lived there for about 2 months now and It is a 10 out of 10. I honestly felt like I was living in a 5 star hotel for the first few days. We were able to pick out all our colors, cabinets, granite, carpet, tile and a few other special requests. We were going to buy used but I am so glad we didn't. I noticed Permian homes was very interested in quality and worked with me so well to make the final outcome exactly how we wanted it.
