I hold to the idea that one must treat others as they would like to be treated. Purchasing a home can be the biggest decision of my client's lives. I do everything in my power to give as thorough a report as possible to allow them more peace of mind and fewer headaches after they have made that purchase. No one wants to buy a new home only to find out that their shingles are near the end of their life span, or find out there is a leak in the crawl space that has been going on for years. It's the inspector's job to crawl under the home, look at the roof top and visually inspect in areas that the average home buyer would never dream of going or looking in. I actually take off the electrical panel front to visually inspect the wiring for issues like signs of electrical shorts or improperly sized wires. I crawl under the home looking for leaks and moisture issues with the foundation. I check out the roof for signs of wear and tear on the shingles, proper flashing, and other concerns. I update my knowledge base of information and education on a regular basis by continually taking courses provided by Internachi, of which I am a member in good standing.
