I noticed a groupon come through on my email and I thought what a perfect opportunity to surprise my best friend for his birthday, by flying around san diego for about 20 minutes, as something memorable. Didn't happen. Before purchasing the groupon, I called and spoke with the rep. from san diego sky tours because I wanted to schedule a tour on my friends birthday, Tuesday. The rep said we would need to go up with 2 other people for the flight to take place and he had a couple going up monday. He told me he'd call them to ask if they can rearrange their schedule to fly up on Tuesday. He called me back and said they couldn't reschedule and that we could go up with them on Monday. That's perfect for me. Although the groupon said private tour for 2 I was completely open and accepting of the fact that we would need to go up with 4 total. This was not a factor. Groupon informed me of this after I bought it and informed me that I was entitled to a full refund which I thought I wouldn't need because it didn't matter. I was going to get a really cool experience with my best friend who hasn't been in an airplane in years and surprise him for a b-day gift to see beautiful San Diego.



I purchased the Groupon and called the rep back, same day(3rd time I've spoken with him at this point), and let him know I wanted to schedule the flight for Monday at 3pm (roughly 1 week advance notice) and I would be bringing my friend so we can fly up with the couple. He confirmed with me the appointment and I scheduled it and managed to keep the secret from my friend the whole time, up until pulling into the airport parking lot when his mouth dropped and he was super excited that we would be taking this tour.

We made it there an hour ahead of time. We waited in the airport for a while and I spoke with the gentleman at the front desk who informed me that san diego sky tours doesn't even have an onsite office where the address puts them. There is no signage or anything. He informed me that when they are onsite they are in the little back office. I called the rep and let him know we were there and asked him where to meet.. This is where it gets interesting.............

He told me that I never confirmed the appointment with him and he didn't schedule me in on the flight. I was furious at this point because he told me I didn't provide an email address and didn't confirm the appointment. Remember, I called and spoke with him 3 times that day, twice before and once after I bought the Groupon. I reminded him that I asked him multiple times if there was anything else they needed from me prior to the flight and he said to just bring the groupon.

After getting so upset with his lies and hanging up on him, I felt so upset I wanted to speak with a supervisor of some sort. How does a pilot not show up for a tour flight they scheduled a week ago. He even admitted to remembering who I was because it was my friends b-day and we went through the scheduling issue with regards to accommodating the other couple. After asking multiple questions ast to how this could have happened I asked what his plans were for 3pm since he didn't show up to his scheduled appointment, what about the other couple. Oh, he tells me, they cancelled on Saturday! Really! So this is what happened here: This other couple cancelled and he didn't tell me! Before leaving the parking lot I made sure to call Groupon and tell them of my horrible experience with this bad business. They refunded my money fully, and issued me groupon credit.

I do NOT recommend San Diego Sky Tours to anyone thinking about spending any money to go up and fly around. Yes they offered to take me out the next day and even extend the flight 10 minutes. Big Deal! My best friends surprise experience was ruined and the experience was lost and couldn't be made up. Plus, why would I get in a plane with anyone who can't keep their schedule.
