The Sandwich Fire Department protects more than 23,500 individuals living in an area of over 43 square miles. The department responds to limit the effects of fire and related disasters and medical emergencies. It maintains a rescue engine, tanker, life support ambulances, brush breakers, boats, and command and support vehicles. The Sandwich Fire Department works with a team of nearly 30 staff members. The department administers several fire prevention and training programs. It is governed by the Town of Sandwich in Massachusetts, which additionally manages building, engineering, health, human resources, natural resources, police, recreation, public works, and planning and development departments.
