The Sherwood Police Department is a law enforcement agency that protects residents lives, property and individual rights, as well as maintains peace and order. It conducts and supports a variety of crime prevention educational programs and awareness seminars regarding burglary prevention, vacation checks, ATM security, and lottery and Internet scams. The Sherwood Police Department supports the Explorer Program, which is a worksite-based program for youths between the ages of 14 and 20. Located in Sherwood , Ark., the department has a Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) team that deals with high-risk and dangerous situations, including barricaded persons, high-risk warrant arrests, explosive devices and heavily armed criminals. The Sherwood Police Department undertakes cases related to homicide, robbery, juvenile crime, sexual abuse, forgery, major assault, missing persons, cyber crime, auto theft and narcotics.
