When I first heard of the prices offered through Simply Mom's Best Catering service I was both excited and a little nervous. I mean, generally you pay for what you get. Nonetheless my fiancé and I scheduled a tasting and ultimately hired her to cater our wedding. I was very excited because Angie offered to throw in servers, set up and clean up at no extra cost. She seemed trustworthy and genuine.

As we approached the day of our wedding I began checking in with Angie. Two weeks before my wedding she informed me that she could not provide servers. Okay, this fueled fire to the stress that any bride endures two weeks before her wedding. But it was manageable. Here is where the problems began. Angie neglected to tell me that she was not only removing the servers from my package but also the set up AND clean up. Additionally, she was not going to provide the burners, the serving utensils, or the racks to hold the food in! I will add that she was not going to inform me of this. Luckily I asked and was able to prepare before the day of. Her reasoning? It was not included in the contract so she did not have to provide any of it. Seriously, this is why I wanted a caterer. I did not want to have to deal with getting these items that should have been included.

At this point I had a friend that offered to have her sister help set up and I had wonderful family members that stepped up to help out. I was extremely disappointed that my family had to deal with the food and not enjoy dinner. On the day of my wedding I discovered that she did not provide the plates and cutlery that she had promised. I ended up with dollar tree quality foam plates and less than half of what we needed in cutlery. This resulted in trips to the store to get more spoons, crackers, and more that she did not provide as promised.

Not having anyone to serve resulted in us running out of some of the dishes and some of my family members had to run out to KFC to get more chicken and macaroni and cheese. I won't even go into how annoyed I was that she brought canned pop for my "drink station" that she promised.

As I sat down to eat my cold food that she brought to my wedding I was more disappointed in myself for taking her word. I trusted that she would take care of things. I guess that is why there are contracts for these types of things. The trick was on me. She even wanted the money before the day of the wedding. We refused to pay her until she delivered due to everything else she was backing out on. I would never recommend her company to anyone. The inconvenience and additional money that we had to spend was not worth any of it.
