Avoid the company like a plague.......
They arrived 3 hours late to begin with - no phone calls - nothing. Had to call 3 times to figure out what was going on. Explanation provided - the drivers did not have the right key to the truck - no courtesy call to even say they are running late. After leaving a message and calling 3 times after that - they arrived 3 hours after the scheduled time. No apology from the owner as to the delay.
They work on an hourly basis.
Provided them a detailed inventory of items to move. They do a bait and switch tactic. I was told that the approximate time to do the move would be 4-5 hours. I even asked for a 3rd person - since I was on a 3rd floor - and Fred (the owner) said not necessary.
Well, they ended up working for 9.5 hours. Thats more than double the estimate. And their efficiency was way down.
And Fred's answer to this was - well, it was an hourly rate - you could have stopped them at any time. So, basically he believes that by quoting a low ball number, you get hooked and then he can swindle you with all the extra hours.
Avoid this company - it is a screwed up organization. You can get much better service for same or slightly better rates.
Anytime a customer calls and wants a quote we always ask questions about her belongings. We can only guess how long it will take over the phone. She did not tell us about everything she had in her apartment. Some people like to down play what they have so they can receive a lower price. This was one of those cases. Each and every contract is signed by the customer before we start the job. They agree that it would be hourly. This is done so the customer can control the hours spent and stay within their budget. The customer can call the office at anytime and let us know if our employees don't work to her satisfaction. We never received a phone call during the move and waited until the move was completed to make her complaint ? Why would anyone keep working men if you know the hours were going past your estimate ?
