Some of the other guys just scrub in soap and spread the dirt around to "encapsulate" it in and on your carpet. Theoretically it gets vacuumed up, but in my experience, it just leaves the carpet tangled and shoddy looking. The stains usually come back up after a week or so. Steam Master uses an extractor to wash your carpet and physically remove the dirt from your carpet.
