Provided by YP.comHorrible......Mr Summerill did our driveway two years ago and after digging up the driveway gouged the price another $900. Stated he could leave right then and there, but unfortunately he already had half of our deposit that he had cashed. A large uneven area was left around our walkway and we were told for the past two years that he would be back to repair. We have two falls r/t this uneven area. Despite multiple calls, each time there is an illness in the family, he doesn't remember talking to anyone, then he randomly calls and states he's coming back and then as of today, states he has stage four cancer and doesn't remember who we are.

Provided by YP.comFrank Summerill and sons did an excellent job in repaving and expanding my driveway. They were all very professional and courteous from start to finish. Frank carefully answered all of my questions before, during, and after completion of the work. The work was performed to my exact specifications and the driveway looks outstanding. All of the materials and equipment used were top quality, and the job was delivered on-time as promised. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend the Summerills to anyone seeking driveway work. They performed a quality service at a reasonable price with excellent customer relations.

Provided by YP.comFrank Summerill of Summerill Paving, Norristown, failed to honor a contract that he made with me to repave my driveway in King of Prussia with two inches of asphalt on top of six inches of crushed stone for a payment of $2,900. He did the job in August 2008, took the payment, and by February 2009 problems were appearing; parking a car overnight caused the dents in the driveway.
After repeated calls to Mr. Summerill, he examined the driveway and said it was not covered by his warranty but that he could repair it for an additional payment. He denied that his workmanship or materials were at fault and tried to shift the blame to another contractor who had placed a dumpster on part of the driveway in April 2009, even though first dents appeared before the second contractor had arrived and the dents were worsening in other areas where the dumpster had not been.
Because Mr. Summerill would not honor his contract, I sued him in District Court of Upper Merion for breach of contract (Docket Number CV-0000867-10). When I cut samples out of the asphalt in three different locations I found that it was not 2 inches think as specified by the contract; in some places it was less than 1 inch thick. In addition, I suspect that the foundation was less than the six inches of crushed stone that was specified in the contract that Mr. Summerill had written out at my kitchen table; this would explained the denting.
The judge seemed inclined to rule in my favor but first suggested that we try to reach an agreement; however, Mr. Summerill failed to cooperate with the judge’s suggestion. While I spoke with Mr. Summerill’s attorney trying to reach an agreement as the judge had suggested, Mr. Summerill contacted a second attorney and filed for bankruptcy (U.S. Bankruptcy Court, Case 11-14056). The filing for bankruptcy effectively stayed my legal action against Mr. Summerill and left me with no legal standing to file a claim against Mr. Summerill in bankruptcy court.
Mr. Frank Summerill did not fulfill the terms of a contract that he wrote or meet the spirit of a suggestion by a judge of a District Court offered to give him a chance to fix his mistakes.
I am out $2,900 and my driveway looks almost as bad as it did the day I invited Mr. Summerill into my home to discuss a simple repaving job. It will be hard for me to trust any contractor again after my experience with Frank Summerill.

Provided by YP.comSummerill Paving Sucks (and I'm being kind). Owner is very unprofessional. Accuses you of being stupid if you say you're not happy with the work. Company will not stand by their work and blames you for not knowing the paving/coating industry for their crappy job. Owner is very rude and threatening. Was so stressed dealing with him I couldn't eat for a few days.

Provided by YP.comSummerill was fantastic! While waiting for just a call back from another landscaper, I approached Summerill while they were doing driveways for two of my neighbors. A 4th neighbor inquired with them as well! Frank and Jimmy were friendly, professional and promot to do estimates, which were very reasonable (my neighbors did the "screening" reserach for their projects). I was pleased that the excavation to our backyard occured as promised and then the mulch (subcontracted to landscaper) was delivered as promised (before the rain please!). I will definitely recommend Summerill and use them again.
