Cake left a bad taste in my mouth

Christine Martinez of Sweet Quince Cakes was a NIGHTMARE. She turned a special day into a regrettable one. She failed to deliver the cake we asked for and charged us way more than we originally discussed. She is a total RIP-OFF.

Most of our wedding guests complained about the cake. Christine gave us a bad-tasting, shoddy version of the cake she promised. I don’t know whose cakes those are on her site, but DO NOT BE FOOLED.

There are a lot of better cake vendors in LA, like Hansens or Jamaica’s Cakes, I wish we had gone to one of them. Christine Martinez is average at best, and charges way above the cost of a premier bakery. Her estimate is nowhere near what the final charge turns out to be.

I feel ripped-off, cheated, let-down and lied-to. If you’re shopping for a cake, I wish you all the best but I sincerely hope you keep looking because Sweet Quince and Christine Martinez have a rare ability to add a sour taste to weddings/parties.

RIP-OFF. Poor taste, ugly cake, underwhelming craftsmanship. Waste of money.

DO NOT RECOMMEND.

This place is a rip off. Her website claims she's a reasonable $3.50 per serving. My husband and I ordered our wedding cake from her for 75 guests and she charged us $950.00!!!

She claims to hand sculpt the sugar detail but she buys it from a website. In fact, she showed us the choices from the website and when we picked which flowers we wanted she said she'd buy them right then. But later, when we confronted her about the price being too high she said she hand sculpted them!!!! We saw her buy them online!!! Most of our guests said the cake didn't taste too good (something they didn't say till after the wedding). Frankly Christine Martinez is a con artist. I thought we working with an small, honest business and that that's why she didn't have a store front. I'm realizing now that it's because this is a side business for her. Where she just rips people off.

Great Cakes!

We've used Pastry Chef Christine Martinez twice for our family quincenera events and both times we were very satisfied. Not only was she affordable in comparison to other fancy cake makers, she delivered exactly what we asked for, a beautifully designed cake that was tasty.
