Tamiami is the worst league to place your children in. I had heard this before from many parents but decided to place my son just to see what it was like and those parents were completely right! My son has gotten very little playing time. I texted the coach and I even emailed the league and the same thing keeps happening. I decided to speak to the coach personally and I was told that he places players that he thinks will win the games, that atleast my son gets to play. I paid the same amount of money as any other parent to watch my son play not sit on a bench. The coaches act like children and do not teach the kids good sportsmanship! It is the most upsetting and discouraging environment. My son has played for four years and now feels that he isn't any good because that's what this league does to children, teaches them that winning is the most important thing when in all reality. It should be teaching them about team work and good sportsmanship!

The worse league ever. I am quoting their mission statement from their web site

The Tamiami Youth Basketball program is designed to teach and motivate our youth to set and achieve goals by stressing the importance of commitment, integrity, confidence, and overcoming obstacles. We believe we have a responsibility to educate and empower our communities youth to be successful, productive citizens for tomorrow.

Through our Community Basketball Program, we use the sport of Basketball as a conduit to promote the importance of academics, teamwork and good sportsmanship. Our League, which is run by volunteers, provides a fun, yet competitive safe environment where our children can learn the fundamental skills necessary for success on and off the basketball court."

NONE OF THIS IS THEIR MISSION STATEMENTIS REALITY AND WHAT YOU WILL EXPERIENCE.

This is not a teaching league what so ever. The owner only encourages players to win at any cost. games are not fairly refereed. kids are tough to play as animals without caring the rules of basketball. I have spoken to many parents and feel the same way. unfortunately it is sad to say but your child will not be their interest, your money will. In addition, the owner Oscar Farinas is so unprofessional that he does not even know how to treat people or even further how to run that business. They have no moral values towards the parents or children. It is sad that this league discourages kids to play and respect the game. DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY AND ENERGY WITH THIS LEAGUE.

I had my son for 2 seasons and I m completely feel that nobody from the owner to the referees don't care about kids. The environment is so unprofessional that once your money is given, you are on your own. The owner oscar is only concerned about getting your money and selling beverages, photos, chips, etc. I am pulling him out even though my money is gone. Trust me that as a parent your child deserves to learn ans have a good time. In tamiami this is not what you will find. I have coached basketball before and when I saw the way things are handled there, I asked myself how can these people work with kids. Do your homework and make sure that you and your child don't end up in a bad situation.

THIS LEAGUE IS COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL. THE PRESIDENT, OSCAR FARINAS AND HIS MAFIA FRIENDS (POPA AND MANY OF THE SCUM REFEREE’S LIKE CHRIS WITH THE CHICKEN LEGS) ARE TURNING THIS PLACE INTO A CASH COW AND ROBBING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS FROM PEOPLE. THEY OFFER NOTHING BUT UNFAIR PLAY FOR THE KIDS AND TREAT THE ADULTS AND VOLUNTEERS WITH AN AMOUNT OF DISRESPECT THAT IS IMMESUAREABLE. YOU WILL BE DOING YOUR KIDS A DISERVICE BY REGISTERING THEM FOR THIS LEAGUE. OPT INTO OTHER LEAGUES THAT OFFER COMPLETE TRANSPARENCY IN THEIR OPERATIONS, UNLIKE TAMIAMI BASKETBALL.

It's the worst place to take your kids. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. Once they receive your money, you are on your OWN. The president is unprofessional and I don't even know how they are still in business. Please don't torture your kids by taking them there. Find another place. They just steal your MONEY.
