Wouldn't Hire Again - Overpriced

Mr. Davin was hired to install lighting, faucets, demo a large and small closet and repair it for painting, move 2 light switches, paint ceilings in 2 rooms and 2 hallways along with 3 mirrors. Everything he did in my house has had to be redone except for the closet demo which went fine. The repairing didn't. He had to redo the plaster and texture to cover where the previous shelving was. Only 1 wall in the large closet was done correctly the 2d time. Due to still seeing the patch job he did very distinctly and the improper texturing, I did not have him move the light switches and instead had him install 3 additional light fixtures. Those were installed crookedly. The hallway bathroom light fixture was put up incomplete. He threw away the end pieces to the fixture as he didn't read the instructions nor determine what the pieces were for. The mirror he installed in that bathroom had to be taken down as he put it about 6 inches higher than asked for. When removed, it was found that one of the anchors was not in the wall and he utilized 2 different width and length screws. The 3 faucets he installed were done with the faucet plate when they didn't require it. He never asked if I wanted it on or not. The ceilings he painted reflected lines on the ceiling where he put too much paint on one side and either not enough or no paint on the other in the living room. The kitchen ceiling had patches of no paint at all. The areas where the ceiling and walls met were not all painted in the kitchen and long hallway. Mr. Davin came late each day and left early. He worked an average of 4 hours a day, but felt he was putting in long days when I brought this up to him. I started keeping his start and end times. At the end of the job, Mr. Daving told me he figures out the hours it'll take him to do a job and then charges California hourly rates. He said he was giving me a rate of $60 an hour. Yet, when the hours divided by the charge showed he was charging me $68 an hour he had nothing to say. I also discovered Mr. Davin was not licensed for anything. He says he's still working on it, but feels he should be paid as if he was since he was in California and I should have asked. He was right that I should have asked, however, he should not put himself out there as if he was licensed. His shody work has necessitated my hiring professionals to redo his substandard work or redoing it myself. I took video and pictures of his so called work along with having professionals determine if his work was done to standards or not. It was not.
