I moved my small business from its location in an office building to my home basement recently, using The Musketeers Moving Company. I was pleasantly surprised at the good job The Musketeers did in nearly all phases of the move.

Firstly, the owner, Camilo, was prompt in replying to my request for a quote via the website. He both called and emailed me within a day to discuss what I needed. He gave me a preliminary quote over the phone, and set up a time to come see my offices. When he came to the office, we went over the details and he confirmed the quote. (He speaks both English and Spanish very fluently. I speak only English. We had no communication difficulties.) The quote was a set rate, plus a per hour charge for any extra time.

I set the day of the move some weeks in advance, and I put down a small deposit on a credit card to reserve the date with him.

On the day of the move, he was at the office along with his two colleagues and a very large truck. They were very eager to work. His colleagues also spoke both English and Spanish, somewhat fluently -- what little wasn't understood, Camilo translated. The three men proceeded to work very hard and fast, carrying all of my boxes and furniture from the 7th floor down a freight elevator to the loading dock. They shrink-wrapped all of the furniture to protect it, and they tied down many items in the truck so they wouldn't move around. They hauled a very large heavy desk around like it weighed nothing (which is of course why I hired them). They never stopped to take a break in the three hours they worked.

When they got to the house and the unloading began, they had to navigate the front yard and my outside basement stairwell. It had recently rained a lot and the result was a lot of mud. They were careful not to track mud into the house. Even with their arms full of boxes, they were wiping their feet before they came in the door. I was pretty impressed with that. Also, I had labeled most of my boxes, and they took special care to put them in the relevant rooms (e.g., file boxes in the file room), even without me asking.

Not a single thing broke in the move and I haven't noticed a single scratch on anything. It was the most successful move I've ever made. Camilo runs a great company and for my move he brought very experienced movers and all the right equipment -- I can only assume he treats all of his customers this way. They are very conscientious, very prompt, trustworthy and hardworking. I can't think of a single negative thing to say about my experience with this company.

I would recommend The Musketeers Moving Services to anyone considering moving in the DC area.
