Provided by YP.comMy Project Overview
Everything at first with the “The Sharper Edge, Inc.” in the Phoenix Metro Area of Arizona seems to start off well. Then a problem arises and I try to get in touch with my sales person but, instead I get one of the corporate officers and they put me off with: "Your concerns will be addressed at the appropriate time". Of coarse this was after I spoke to a receptionist which told me that they would determine what should be done, period.
Then they want more money, by this time I’ve given them three fourths or more of the money on the quote. I complain that my concerns have not been addressed so, a corporate officer, not my sales person, comes to my home and then tries to renegotiate the original project. I pick this up during the conversation with the corporate officer. “The Sharper Edge, Inc.” wishes to keep within a certain margin percentage profit instead of you receiving what you originally agreed upon.
You don't go along with this so, “The Sharper Edge, Inc.” puts your project on hold. Now begins the waiting game of an additional two months or so.
“The Sharper Edge, Inc.” doesn't use materials that are stated verbally or on quotes. They substitute materials with items you didn't purchase and they state certain materials are one type when in reality the materials are another. When you address the poor quality and lack of workmanship “The Sharper Edge” takes offense, like you should be satisfied with second best or they were doing you a favor by showing up.
If you think your getting everything you should please check the product brand names with the manufactures. You will be surprised at the answers you get. Have you had planter boxes installed; do they leak, yet? Stay clear of this company if you value your hard earned money. In the long run the few thousand you think you may be saving will not over ride the compromise “The Sharper Edge, Inc.” expects. The promises of warranties only have an impact on a project if the work done was what the consumer purchased; not what the consumer is expected to settle for.
I have seen a standard rebuttal from this company to complaints on the internet and basically “The Sharper Edge, Inc.” in the Phoenix Metro Area of Arizona stated they have done over 7,000 jobs and you can’t please everyone. I believe they’ve been in business for around 25 years but, not with today's generation in charge of the business. Everything changes! Not all for the good!

Provided by YP.comThis is only a few of the issues I have looked at by "Sharp Contracting". I will keep updating as I like to be a fair reviewer. ^.^
Stamped concrete after a year:
• If you get color added it will start to wash off with the rain and show spots of gray where the water sits.
• The stamping itself does not have the depth they advertise. (not even close to it)
• Tends to crack near house foundation and anything that is built next to it.
• The edging strips were, not sure how to explain it. The thickness drastically varied.
Structures built by this company:
• They seem to use low quality material definitely from the rust build up from some of the metal they used.
• The stucco they use will leak down onto the stamped concrete that will leave white puddle marks after rain.
• A few structures were not fully nailed together before stucco’d.
Artificial grass:
• Was not the color that was asked for
• Then it melted in some spots. (then was replaced with the correct color which looked ridiculous)
• Was not fully secured into the ground.
• Could see very noticeable creases.
After having it the grass taken out, their workers left giant rusty nails all over the ground and just covered them a little with dirt/sand. That really annoyed me because my little 3 year old loves to play outside and run around. I could not even imagine if he would have stepped on one of those. Actually, if anyone was to step on one of those it would awful. (I think I got all of them, well I really hope I did)

Provided by SuperpagesTERRIBLE COMPANY!! I would not recommend to anyone. Customer service is awful. I had them come out to do a job on my patio and they ruined my patio. When I called to have them fix it they said it would be 3 weeks until someone got out there. When they finally came, they did the same thing and didn't fix it. They didn't care that I was upset about it. Please go with anyone else but this company. I am filing a complaint with the BBB.

RE: Thin coat resurfacing…you make the call, this is our experience…read other reviews. Significant problems from the beginning. Very difficult to get owner to respond to our calls.
8 wks later and we are still fighting to get it done right.
In doing our own research we found part of our problem was efflorescence which is a problem for all concrete but a particular problem for colored concrete. When asked why the salesman didn’t disclose the potential problem with efforvescence in the colored concrete he said and we quote “it rarely happens so we don’t disclose it.”
The owner is now denying responsibility telling us “it is our problem not their problem.”
Sent certified letters with pictures of their work which company signed for receipt and denied on the phone they had received anything from us.
Our story, you make the call. “Caveat emptor "Let the buyer beware" We have 5 page timeline of events which we can’t included in this review. It’s exhausting, we gave up.

Provided by YP.comIn short the worst possible service ever, period. They were always late except when asking for money. They never wrote down all of the details of the job so, I was always going over and over every little detail and this company still could not get it done correctly. If you want a job done correctly do yourself a favor and avoid The Sharper Edge. I paid them in full, big mistake. They left me holding the bag. Finally I had to give up and find a local professional contractor.

Provided by YP.comThe Sharper Edge just completed work on my 3rd home as in the past 2 homes the pricing was fare and the service and final product was delivered and installed as promised I would recommend The Sharper Edge to all in need of the services they provide. Everyone that comes to our front door alway comments on how nice the stamped concrete looks on our entry. "you have the nicest home on the street"

Provided by SuperpagesThis company was the worst company I have ever hired for improvements on my home. Their follow thru was terrible. Once the concrete was poured, it took 3 weeks for them to stain it and take the forms down that had nails sticking out of them... on top of that the PVC pipe they put in to re install our Pool fence was left in to long and they had to break it out, resulting in patch work around the holes, which doesn't even match. Overall I wish I would have gone with Progressive which was more expensive, but reputable. You can't put a price on your sanity.

Provided by YP.comThis company's customer service or should I say lact there of is terrible. Last April My wife and I had wanted to get some decorative concrete work done in our backyard and had gone to the Sharper Edge's showroom located in Chandler as well as the new location in North Phx. We were inpressed at what we say & decided to contract them to do the work. From the time the guys arrived to do the job I knew there was going to be problems. They rushed through the job, and their work was terrible. When they came bac out to finish the job i pointed out the the "specialist" all of the mistakes and he said that he would take care of them. He filled in the cracks & the holse, but never bothered to color them in so they matched the original work. It has been a year & the sealer has pealed away & the stain has come off in areas and it looks horrible. I immediatley called & spoke to Allen & he said that he would schedule the repair & it would be a few weeks. I called Allen back 3 weeks later & he said that "with the constuction industry, thats the risk you take." It is now July 13th & I have now been re-scheduled 3 times. I just Allen again & he said that his specialist that does all of the repairs is on vacation & had to re-schedule again. After telling Allen that I have waited for almost 3 months for them to come out, he said that the earliest they could come out would be July 21st & that I did not need to be there for the repairs. I now have to take another day off to be there, because I do not trust these guys at ALL. If you are looking for decorative concrete work, I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY TO ANYONE!!!
I am sorry to hear the disappointment this customer had with our service. The difficulty in internet reviews is that we do not know who the customers are. Often the complaint is resolved, but the review is not changed. We began our business in 1989 and have installed over 7000 jobs in Arizona. We take great pride in our products and services. Periodically jobs can go wrong and we make every effort to resolve the problems. 99.6% of our customers are satisfied. We are sorry that the .4% exists and continually strive to produce a better product at a lower price for the consumer.

Provided by YP.comI am sorry to say that I contracted The Sharper Edge as well. I Paid over $2000 for a 15x20 artificial grass install with a cement border. I went to the showroom and paid the OWNER Allan a deposit for the installation. I was excited to come home from work the day of the installation and see my new grass. What a disappointment. There were lumps under our feet when walking on it and the grass could be picked up with your fingers because it wasn't secured to the ground. I called immediately. The girl that answers the phone is very rude right off the bat. Allan assures me that he will have someone come out to look at it. They are no shows for 2 days straight. When they finally came out, I wasn't home but Allan says his worker came out and fixed the installation. Nope. Wrong. I don't know why they can't send a supervisor to look at and see what is wrong and then send someone competent out here to fix it. I have been leaving messages for Allan for 3 days and finally got a hold of him today. I am pretty upset and finally have had enough. I lost my temper with him and demanded a refund or an assurance that my install will be done right. He blamed me for not being there to make sure the job was done right. Really? I am waiting until 6/14 for my install to get fixed. I will let you all know what happens. Do not contract these guys. If the owner doesn't care about the install and the lack of customer service, how can you expect anything better from the rest of the company. Leadership by example I guess.

Provided by YP.comRecently, my husband and I went to The Sharper Edge showroom in Chandler and saw samples of their concrete work. The stamped concrete looked great so we decided to hire them for our backyard patio. What a mistake. We are very disappointed in the quality of the job. The pattern we picked out was the Grand Ashler and the color of the concrete was Terra Cotta. The lines between the sections of the stamped design are uneven, some lines are deep, some lines are barely visable. Some of the lines themselves are too thin, some are too wide, and some contain extra concrete. There is no consistency in pattern. The color is very uneven. There are some areas that contain no color. Repairs to the imprinted lines show finger prints and lack the Terra Cotta color. No quality control. No quality inspection. The workers didn't seem to care about the job and were in a hurry to leave. Customer satisfaction was not their primary objective. If the owners of the business had come by and taken an interest/inspection of the job as it progressed, maybe it would have turned out better.
