Although their proprieties are nice and they come across as friendly, when it comes time to move out they will take advantage of you. I am a soldier with a wife and three children and I rented a three bedroom townhouse from them. Being a soldier I move around a lot, thus requiring me to rent from a variety of landlords. I have never been taken advantage of how I was after moving out from the Torkelson's property. Three days before moving out I did a walk through with the Torkelson's and was informed that I would need to clean under the appliances and in the sliding window/door tracks otherwise I would be charged the hourly rate for them to clean it. We walked through the rest of the house and other than replacing light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, stove burner trays and toilet seat covers nothing else was mentioned or pointed out as dirty. Having three kids and trying to finished up to move out I did not have time to do the previously mentioned tasks. Two weeks after moving out I received a letter from them stating that the house was extremely dirty and not only will I not be receiving my $700 deposit back but I now owe an additional $701. The letter stated that it took them 39.5 hours to clean the house but they would only be charging me for 30 hours totaling $1000 in cleaning fees. Now for a 1500 sqft house that was already cleaned minus a couple things in the kitchen I found that absurd and insulting. I advise anyone considering renting from the Torkelson's to take into consideration what happened to me before you make your final decision
