Travelling Teachers, Inc. was founded in 1981 and incorporated in 1984 by pianist and teacher David K. Charney who now serves as its current director. Since its beginning, this organization has brought music lessons into the homes of several thousand people. Instruction is open to everyone with a love for music and a desire to learn, regardless of age or previous background. Our Music Teachers Most of our teachers have degrees in music, though some have minored in it. And there are some who have become accomplished performers on their instrument and have a desire to convey their knowledge and expertise to others. All of our teachers are interviewed and auditioned. We look at their personality to see how they might relate with people, both adults as well as children, because it is in this area that is most important about being a teacher for our organization. Setting Up Lessons After you provide us with some basic information* we will pass it on to one of our teachers in our database who will get in touch with you, usually within a few days. You will discuss with the teacher what you/your child's needs are for the lessons and work with the teacher in coming up with a mutually agreeable day and time for the lessons. We cannot guarantee that we will always have a teacher available for your instrument in your geographic area at any given time, but the odds are reasonably good that we will be able to provide you with one.
