The Nesconset Fire Department is a volunteer organization that serves the people and businesses of Smithtown and Long Island, N.Y. The department is governed by a board of fire commissioners and leaded by chief of department. It responds to more than 1,600 emergency incidents every year. The department also provides medical assistance and transportation to area hospitals. The Nesconset Fire Department offers assistance in motor vehicle accidents and structure, vehicle and brush fires. It responds to various other emergencies, such as water rescues, electrical hazards, flooding conditions, natural gas leaks and fuel spills. The department has a staff of more than 100 employees. It operates through engine, ladder-rescue and fire police divisions. The Nesconset Fire Department is located in Nesconset, N.Y.
