Provided by YP.comOnly take dogs to this shelter as a last resort. We took a stray pit mix here who had been staying with us for a couple of months. We had no problem with him. He got a long with our 4 dogs and welcomed people into our home. Being unemployed I could not afford to take care of 5 dogs. We took him in to the New Albany Shelter so he could find a "forever" home. The lady at the shelter was all too eager to "put him down." She didn't care how well behaved he was, she just wanted to "put him down." She was very belligerent to me and my son. Needless to say we did not leave the dog there! He deserves a loving home - not to be killed!
Currently being a municipal shelter we are unable to find a forever home for this breed of animal due to public perception of this breed of animal The following new policy is in place. Operation: P.E.A.C.E. We at the New Albany Floyd County Animal Control & Shelter are committed to PLACING EVERY ADOPTABLE CREATURE ENCOUNTERED. Once an animal has met our criteria for adoptability, we will use all of our resources to adopt, maintain their health and behavior until its placement in a forever home. No animal will be euthanized due to space! We invite other municipal animal shelters to accept this mission. “No-Kill” is a term that is difficult for government facilities to embrace, due to their obligation to protect and serve the community first. We issue the challenge for others to accept Operation: P.E.A.C.E.!
