New Albany City Police Department
The New Albany Police Department, founded in 1984, is a full-service law enforcement agency. Located in New Albany, Ind., it maintains a K-9 unit that performs duties related to narcotic investigations, criminal apprehensions, building searches, public demonstrations and tracking of lost children and criminals. The New Albany Police Department s records division manages and processes department reports, requests, permits, registrations and identification documents. The department also has a criminal investigation division that is responsible for the investigation of felony and juvenile crimes, murders, serious misdemeanors, and identity and auto thefts. The New Albany Police Department also collects and stores evidence, as well as prepares cases for prosecution.
