Canyon Middle School serves the educational needs of students in grades six through eight. The school has an enrollment of more than 800 students and offers classes in English as a second language, reading and language arts, mathematics, physical education, science and social studies. It also offers transitional learning classes for students with emotional, behavioral and academic difficulties. The school uses a daily point sheet, weekly level system and color card discipline system as tools to decrease maladaptive behavior, as well as reinforce prosocial behaviors. It has athletic teams in football, basketball, track and field, tennis, cross country and golf. It provides various extracurricular activities, such as art, band, cheerleading, choir, computers, home economics, industrial arts, teen leadership, top cats, theatre arts and youth leadership. Canyon Middle School is a part of the Comal Independent School District and is located in New Braunfels, Texas.
