Provided by YP.comWe first used Vetter Air in 2011 when our AC broke. They fixed it fast, so we kept their number- 2015 rolls around, need them again for the second a/c, and they are right there. Fixed, in and out. Clear pricing, did not upsell. Very happy.

Provided by YP.com5 Stars All The Way!
Vetter installed our a/c system and it turned out fantastic. He made excellent recommendations and completed the entire house in no time flat. This was actually one of the final projects of our full remodel. During that difficult process, we ran into a number of sub-par contractors (a few were even highly rated on Angieslist).
Vetter did what he said he would, for the price we agreed upon, and it turned out better than we expected!
If all the subcontractors we hired were as professional and thorough as Vetter Air, our life would have been SO much easier.

Provided by YP.comWe first used Vetter air in June of 2009 when our A/C quit working. The compressor fan motor had gone out. We called at 7 am to schedule service and were told they would be here between 10 am and noon. The technician did not arrive until 1 pm. We were charged $39 for the service call, and then over $400 for the motor and installation.
1 month later our A/C started leaking water on a Sunday. We called as soon as we noticed it and were told they would be there in the afternoon and would call before coming out. By 5 o'clock nobody had arrived or called and we had given up. After doing some research we discovered what the problem was, corrected it ourselves (clogged drain pipe) and cancelled the service call. Unfortunately however after we attempted to turn the unit back on after clearing the clog, the outside unit would not come on. We called Vetter the next day to have them look at it. This time the breaker box tied to the outdoor unit had fused and melted. We were told that typically with the unit we have the breaker box is unfused and is simply a switch and they had an unfused box on the van they could install. We wanted to replace it with the same type of fused box that was currently on it and were told he could get the part no problem. After getting the part and coming back, we were told that there would be a $25 parts acquisition fee. We were also told that there would be a $79 service fee on top of the $235 for the box and installation (which earlier he did not mention the service fee and instead told my husband $235 altogether installed). When I questioned the service fee and pointed out that just a month earlier it was half as much, I was told last month they were running a special. When we brought up the fact that we were not told ahead of time that there would be a parts acquisition fee, we were told normally that would be $50 but they were only going to charge us $25 (as if they were doing us a favor!)
I really feel like on both occassions we have been gouged. I understand marking up parts prices and labor is not always cheap, but I think it is ridiculous if you have repairs done to charge a service fee on top of the labor and parts. When you have your car repaired, dealers typically charge a diagnostic fee, but if you choose to have the repairs done that fee is waived and you are only charged for the parts and labor. In addition, we should have been told up front before the technician left to get the other breaker box that an additional fee would apply.
We will not be using Vetter air in the future.
I am sorry you feel that way. Our pricing is fair and honest and lower than most reputable companies. I believe there may have been a communication problem as we are supposed to inform you of the repairs needed and the cost up front out of our flat rate pricing book. As far as being late, we try to let our customers know about how long it will take to arrive but it is just an estimate. This past summer was the hottest summer on record and everyone was busy. It is hard to estimate how long each technician will take for the job he is on and then estimate when he will be on the next job. We try to do our best. You mentioned you had a different unrelated problem and we had not made it by 5 pm and you cancelled. Again, it is hard to estimate arrival time but we try. Our technicians will work until the days jobs are done and we do not stop at 5 pm. We would have made it but the technicians get tied up on jobs not knowing what they will be doing. I am sorry you don't understand our billing processes which are similar to everyone’s. There is a service call fee to come out regardless of the repairs we do. This fee covers the drive time and gas, technicians pay to drive, and also the time it takes to diagnose your system. This mostly covers our costs. If you called us assuming we would come out for free then maybe that is why you are upset. If the problem was related to what we did or was the problem then it would have been warranted for the total cost. Since it was not then we must cover our costs (and maybe make a little) and bill the service call fee. Every company will get this cost in their pricing one way or another. WE cannot be compared to an automotive shop. We are like a mobile shop and carry everything with us and come to you. We have drive time, gas, insurance, and each truck must be fully stocked and taxes must be paid on the stock. Auto techs are waiting for you to drive to them and you still have to wait. The $39 special you had the first time was a special. They do not run all the time. We are in business to make money not to work for free. Anyone charging $29 or $39 a service call all the time is losing money walking in your door and must make it up. They also advertise it but it changes under certain conditions and you usually pay more one way or another. I have found they are the ones who charge the most and have the most dishonest and crooked technicians. You would be surprised if you knew who they were and how big the companies are. We were running the special to compete with the other companies who charge this much. Those same companies are the ones who charge the most and I would watch out. If they are not charging a lot with the low service call, then it is highly probable they will not be in business for more than a couple of years. Again, I am sorry you feel this way and I do not feel you were gouged or overcharged. It is probable that if you would have called another company you would have paid much more providing you had an honest technician or it could have been even worse. I remember this service call slightly. I wish you would have called and talked to me. Please feel free to call in and talk. I will be glad to work with you to help you understand everything and to do something to make it up to you since you feel this way. We in no way intend to gouge anyone but we do want to make some honest money with our professional services. And in no way do we want to be deceptive or misleading. I feel you did not have everything explained to you properly or I think you would be happy otherwise. Please call or email our office if you would like and I will do what I can to make up for it. Thank you, Mike Vetter.
