NOT A GOOD BANG FOR YOUR BUCK My family along with another family rented this home in August of 2012. The backyard was great with a hot tub and heated pool. The interior of the home was clean but the mattresses, bedding, and the fully stocked kitchen were all of very low quality. It is not what you would expect for $4200 a week. During our stay the gas grill was malfunctioning. We called Lake Effect and they sent over a woman with a new tank of gas. After we changed the gas and determined that was not the problem she cleaned the grill. The grill was still not functioning. We requested prior to our stay that Lake Effect sign an addendum to the contract which stated if any of the appliances in the home were not in working order during our stay Lake Effect would refund $500.00. Lake Effect refused to refund the $500.00 and charged us $200.00 for extra cleaning fees. The cleaning service said that we moved furniture, left wet towels in the pool box and used extra comforters and sheets at the rental. These were all blatant lies. Carie at Lake Effect said she would forward pictures which the maid service took. The pictures were blurry Xeroxes of photos which were not date stamped and could have been taken two years ago. I called the New Buffalo Chamber of Commerce and they had never heard of “Linda’s Cleaning Service” and this company is not incorporated in the State of Michigan. This management company is unprofessional and dishonest. Make sure you take photos before you checkout so you can answer to any false allegations made by the bogus cleaning service ”Linda’s Cleaning Service” Do your homework (don’t just take my word for it) if you plan to rent from them or it will cost you$$$$$$. Check out yelp and the better business bureau and call the chamber of commerce in New Buffalo and the police.

Too many people only write reviews when things go wrong, so we want to take a moment to pass out accolades. We were fortunate to discover Lake Effect a few years ago, and we have been renting with them in beautiful Southwest Michigan ever since. Carie and her staff have been great to deal with. Any time we have contacted them, even after checking in, they have responded very quickly. We will continue to recommend them to our friends & family.

It was great dealing with lake effect they went out of their way to do anything to make us happy. We will use them for years to come.

I have rented From Lake Effect Rentals and Carie O for the last 9 years. Carie O has been a pleasure to work with. She has always taken the time to stop by and make sure we were happy with the rental. She also made sure that she did everything to make us happy. We have loved every house we have rented from her. We are currently looking at homes to buy with her and put them on the rental market with her. I would highly recommend using Lake Effect Vacation Rentals. Carie is very knowledgable of the area and the homes in the area. If I could give this company 10 stars I would.
