Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven, also known as DVS, is a private, nonprofit organization that offers a range of services for the victims of domestic violence. Founded in 1977, it serves the residents of New Haven, Hamden, Milford, Bethany, Orange, Woodbridge, North Branford, Guilford and Madison counties in Connecticut. The organization provides various emergency shelter, transitional housing, individual counseling and community education services. Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven administers the Family Violence Victim Advocacy program, which includes protection and referral services with the help of attorneys. It maintains a 24-hour help line that offers crisis intervention and information and referral assistance in English and Spanish. The organization conducts various workshops and in-service presentations for health care providers, school professionals and substance abuse clinicians. Additionally, Domestic Violence Services of Greater New Haven participates in a variety of fundraising events. It is located in New Haven, Conn.
