Operational since 1701, Yale University has been committed to undergraduate education. Based in New Haven, Conn., it provides health and medicine programs, which include school of medicine, school of nursing, school of public health, Yale medical group and cancer center, among others. Yale University was also leaders in developing the concept of the extracurriculum to supplement classroom learning and system of residential colleges in the United States. In addition to Yale College for its undergraduates, Yale University's other academic schools include the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, 13 Professional Schools and one of the largest libraries in the Western Hemisphere.
