My girlfriend and I were looking for a place to buy an engagement ring and up until we came to Jack Sutton our experience was less than average. Every other place was filled with aggressive sales people that jumped on us the moment we walked in the door and literally stalked us like an animal stalking its prey. When we were looking we MADE SURE to tell the sales people that we were most 8-10 months away from buying (which was true). That didn't stop most places from trying to start with their great pricing, pushing rings endlessly on my girlfriend's finger, their financing options, why buying now would be the best time to buy, etc.

What a different and pleasant experience Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry was! From the moment we walked in we were greeted as we expected, but something was different about this place. My girlfriend and I never got the feeling they were "selling" us something. They simply asked us what brought us in today and we let them know we were looking at engagement rings, but were 8-10 months away. The consultant (notice I didn't say salesperson) didn't have a disappointed look on their face knowing they weren't getting a sale today or even in the near future. He walked us over to the engagement section and proceeded to give us a detailed and educational background on diamonds, the different shapes, and the 4C's. I used to think all diamonds were essentially the same, but his tutorial gave me the insight my girlfriend and I were looking for. He then asked us really good questions that showed he actually cared what was important to us and that his goal was to make sure my girlfriend got the ring she always wanted. The best part is that knowing we weren't ready just yet he didn't even throw out pricing or push us to divulge a budget. About the 3 months passed since our visit and I got a phone call from him just to check in and see how things were going. I appreciated this a lot. We scheduled a second appointment to come by and take the next step in the whole process. When we walked into our second appointment at Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry it sealed the deal for us. Based on our likes from our 1st meeting he had picked out a beautiful array of rings for us to look at. I think he even said he went to the other store on Royal St. because they had some options that he knew would be good for us. Sure enough, my girlfriend loved one of the rings. That 8-10 months turned into only 3 months because of the great customer service and attention to detail! Thanks Jack Sutton Fine Jewelry! See you down the road for wedding bands!

avoid this jeweler at all cost...

avoid this jeweler at all costs. Jack sutton is a shady guy. i have been to new orleans and visited his shop for years. when it came time for me to upgrade my diamond studs, i was told by three different jewelers in my own city that the earrings my husband bought from JSFJ were not even worth a quarter of what they charged him for them in the store. Since then, i have heard other horror stories of shoppers getting conned as well. I called the business to speak with the owner and have yet to receive a returned call. STAY AWAY.

Be very, very careful!! I had...

Be very, very careful!! I had a ring made at Jack Sutton Jewelers. The mounting for my 5 carat diamond was very expensive ($7000). Three years later, at the end of November 2011, I dropped the ring and the band broke in two. I called and told the salesperson at Jack Sutton Jewelers what had happened and that I thought that Jack should know. He said that they wanted me to be happy and immediately emailed me a shipping label to send my ring to their jeweler in Los Angeles to be repaired. I thought at the time that their customer service was outstanding! I spoke with them several times in the course of the next few weeks, inquiring about the status of the ring. They finally said that it would not be ready until after the new year because of the Christmas rush. I said that was fine, that we were going on vacation for ten days, and to call me when it was being shipped back to me. The day we returned from our vacation, Jack Sutton called and told me the ring was in New Orleans, it was ready to be shipped, and that the repair would be $1065!! I was flabbergasted and said that no one had told me there would be a charge. I simply thought that they were guaranteeing their work. He said that his jeweler in LA had made an entirely new shank. I pointed out that no one had informed me of any charge,or given me any estimates. He finally said he'd reduced it to $540, but that I would have to pay the $90 shipping as well. I then asked him to send a photo of the newly repaired ring, and for two days he did not, nor did he take my calls. They went directly to voice mail (at his business) or I was told that he was with a client . At the end of the third day of waiting and worrying, his staff finally sent a photo of the ring. I consulted an attorney in New Orleans, who said it would be costlier to file charges (and that he was in possession of my ring), so I paid Jack Sutton Jewelers and got my ring back on January 7th, 2012. I immediately took the ring to my own jeweler in Texas who said that the shank had been repaired, not remade, and showed me the solder marks to prove it. The repair in his shop would have cost about $30, not $630 that I paid Jack Sutton. As I said, be very very careful.

So excited to go and pick out ...

So excited to go and pick out wedding rings, but when arrived at 10:00, had to wait until 10:15 for them to let us in. Then, when finally in, the lady in the back by the wedding rings looked at me with horror on her face as if I was not supposed to be there. I was confused, and embarrassed, and of course I left.
