Sankofa Farmers Market was established to satisfy a need for healthy produce in New Orleans’ underserved and low income communities. It is the only open-air fresh market in the Ninth Ward area within a five-mile radius of the Treme, Seventh Ward, Faubourg Marigny, French Quarter, Gentilly and Mid-City neighborhoods. Founded in 2010, the Farmers Market continues to grow with new vendors and products, including seasonal produce, fresh herbs, starter plants, eggs, seafood, tofu, artisan breads, baked goods, prepared foods, and food trucks.
