Founded in 1828, the State University of New York at New Paltz is a regional college that offers both baccalaureate and master degrees. In addition, it offers predoctoral certification in educational supervision and administration. The college consists of the schools of education, fine and performing arts, business, science and engineering, and liberal arts and sciences. Located in New Paltz, N.Y., it offers approximately 100 undergraduate and 50 graduate programs. It organizes various student programs and operates more than 130 clubs and organizations, such as the National Collegiate Athletic Association's Division III athletics and fine and performing arts programs. It has more than 7,650 students enrolled and has over 300 full-time teachers. The college is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music, the American Chemical Society, the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education, the American Speech-Language & Hearing Association and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education.
