The Gulf Coast Trades Center, established in 1971, is a nonprofit educational school that provides a variety of human development services to students throughout Texas. The center assists various disadvantaged adolescents and adults with developing vocational, academic and social skills. It offers recreational challenge, independent living skills training, services, casework, and work experience and job placement programs. The Gulf Coast Trades Center also provides assessment, substance abuse, remedial education and peer group counseling services. Its clients include various adjudicated and their families and juvenile probation departments, as well as the Texas Youth Commission, Texas Education Agency, Local Workforce Boards and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. The center is located in New Waverly, Texas.
