Commercial spaces are responsible for flame retardant treatment of materials used for artistic enhancement in certain occupancies or portions of occupancies is required to hold a Certificate of Fitness. All curtains, drapes, hangings, decorations and other materials used for artistic enhancement in all public assembly areas within buildings are required to be either inherently flame resistant or treated to be flame resistant. (Chapter 8 of the FDNY FIRE CODE)!
