Dr. Brudney is currently the Senior Expert Adviser to the Centers for Disease Control Division of HIV and Tuberculosis. She spends a significant amount of time working in the southern cone of Africa—Mozambique, Zimbabwe and Zambia—on HIV and Tuberculosis. She has also worked on TB Infection Control issues in Mumbai and is currently involved in a new project on MDRTB there. Dr. Brudney was the program director for the Treatment Adherence Demonstration Project in the Comprehensive HIV Program Outpatient HIV clinic. In order to improve antiretroviral adherence in difficult populations, an interdisciplinary program called Jumpstart was initiated in 1998 in the Infectious Disease/AIDS Clinic at NewYork–Presbyterian Hospital. Dr. Brudney obtained a 5 year NIH Fogarty grant for research training in 2002 and trained several teams of Dominican health professionals in the HIV care and delivery program in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
