Had a great experience with this company. moved from Connecticut back home to Sydney and we were very happy. the packers were fast and polite. we got our stuff when we asked for (had to look for a place first) .. so overall, great. unpacking now. ... good to be back home :)

I can't recommend NY International Shipping to anyone apart from a worst enemy.

The initial consultation with Wayne was great - very positive and it looked very professional. The expectation was set around how long it would take to arrive in Australia as I needed all of our household items to arrive quickly and were happy to pay for it. He explained that it was easy and that they did a lot of shipments to Australia without any problems.

Unfortunately, the rest of the experience with NY International Shipping was terrible. Actually I’ll admit the guys who came to pick up our boxes was very pleasant despite being 3 hours late and missing our lift booking, and they worked quickly and efficiently one there.

My first encounter with the person handling my case (Theresa) set the tone - her first words were "I'm so stressed - I've got so much to do". There was no communication from the company and I had to push the entire process otherwise our pickup would never have happened. There were no phone calls or even emails sent without me having to send one or call first. The customer service side of the company is terrible, and there is no way to escalate. And forget about calling after 5pm and getting any answers.

The invoicing from the company was awful, and I ended up having to pay over $140 in bank fees due to 2 incorrect invoices and threats of delays in shipment if payments weren't made in time. This is aside from the fact that the cost was 50% more than the initial quote and there were multiple addons to the initial cost.

I was advised that by air the shipment would arrive within 5 days. Our boxes hadn't even left their warehouse in New York after 2 weeks. They arrived on July 26 at our apartment, which was 23 days after pickup. This left us without any clothes apart from what we had in our suitcases for over 3 weeks, let alone our baby gear, stroller and bassinet.

Needless to say, moving is already stressful enough without having to call the shipping company at least once a day in different time zones to get an update and push for our belongings to arrive. Moving with a baby back to Sydney was incredibly stressful, but my biggest mistake in the whole process was choosing this company to look after our items. This was a completely different experience to the one I had going over to the US when our boxes arrived quickly and without fuss.

Please reconsider before using this company - there are better options out there.

I have waited a year to post a review as I wanted to let the dust settle and emotions calm down. However, I have decided to review this company in the hope that others can learn from my experience.

I initially spoke to Wayne who was a helpful, polite and reassuring. He made an appointment for David Mazafi to visit to provide an estimate. David did not turn up for the appointment and in hindsight I should have stopped my discussions with NY International Shipping at this point. However Wayne reassured me there was a good reason for this and another appointment was made. David estimated the costs, which was not the cheapest I received but as I felt comfortable with Wayne I decided to proceed.

The packers arrived on the day and spent the next few days packing. I will bullet point my concerns

1) They helped themselves to the content of my fridge without my permission.

2) They made it clear that they were not well paid and made their money on tips which they expected to be in the region of $100 per man - there were 6 of them!

3) They packed furniture which was clearly marked for leaving in the property

4) They stood over me as I filled in the customer satisfaction sheet so there was no way I could be candid.

Once the load had been taken back to the depot I was told it was far larger than estimated and my cost was increase by approximately 35% to the tune of $3000+ . After considerable discussion they did reduce this additional cost by $1000.

During these discussions I was told that all of my shipment would not fit into the container, I therefore said that IF NEEDS MUST the two canoes could be left, however I reassured by Wayne that he was confident that they would be included. I was understandably angry at this additional cost as their rep had visited the house and I can honestly say that two very large that items that I had asked him to include in the shipment where in fact disposed of prior to my move so the shipment was actually smaller than the estimate had allowed for.

Once the shipment was on its way I was sent forms to complete for its arrival in the UK. I sent back promptly as requested however I was not informed by the logistics department that they could not read the faxed copy until MANY days after their receipt and I was asked to resend, which again I did promptly. I had been told that my container would be available for release from the port 10-14 days. It was actually released on the 10th day but I was informed by the shipping company in the UK that they would not release it until I had paid for the extra days in the port. There were no extra days, I had always been told to expect 10-14 days and it was released on the 10th day however I once again had to pay SEVERAL HUNDRED POUNDS to get the container released. I asked why I was having to pay this and the representative in the UK office said that she had asked liaised with NY Shipping and they had told her to charge me. I could understand this if I had caused the container to be delayed but I had not and the container was released on the first day of the time frame I was told to expect.

Once the container was delivered it was found that the canoes had been left in NY. This I could understand if the container was packed to capacity but there was plenty of room. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO CONTACT ME FOR A COPY OF THE PHOTOGRAPH I HAVE OF THE CONTAINER DOORS BEING OPENED, The large space available is evident. When I challenged the NY office they said the space was not what it seemed ???? I also paid $250 per item for several items to be crated, one of these, an extremely valuable picture was not, again photographic evidence is available.

However they 'very kindly' offered my a 5% discount should I use them again. This was glib and insulting, they knew I was moving myself and my children back on my own dime.

THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE YOU USE THIS COMPANY. ONE YEAR LATER I STILL REGARD THEIR SERVICE TO BE DECEITFUL AND THE CANOES AS STOLEN.

This was by far the worst move...

This was by far the worst move I ever had to go through. I am an international professional (United Nations), who has enjoyed many smooth moves between countries already. I selected this company due to its positive online ratings. The interactions with NY International Shipping were positive up until the moment they had endorsed my cheque. As soon as NY International Shipping had received my money nothing worked any more. All contact stopped, nobody returned my calls and the movers didn't even show up on the agreed moving date. When I called to find out where the movers were (and finally managed to speak to somebody after many attempts) I was merely told that there had been a last minute change and that I should take the next day of work off too to wait for the movers. The person I talked to at NY International Shipping did not even present their excuses for the major inconvenience caused. At that point in time it was obviously too late to change moving company but I already saw further trouble coming. For weeks my boxes were not shipped since the company apparently noticed that they needed additional information from me 2 weeks after having picked up my boxes by which time I had already left my old job and the country; they contacted my old email address instead of using my new contact information in France, which I had provided to them and which they had obviously never entered into their system. I eventually received my shipment, though with many weeks of delay, in France. Considering their lack of organization all along they way, I considered this close to a miracle. Frankly, by then, I had already given up on my shipment and on the $2,500 I had paid. I should add that the way I was talked to each time I called the company once my money had been cashed in by them was the rudest I have been talked to in my 6 years in NYC. I am writing this a year after my experience with NY International Shipping since I received an email from them today asking me to rate them....a year later I have not forgotten this horrible move; and never will!!!

Incredible Service!

NY International Shipping did an amazing job when I was moving to India. I was even surprised they accommodated me after calling them up without a decent head start. Hell, I was moving in two days!!! But, they were great! I recommend them to everyone who is moving to a different country!

Great People, Great Service

I moved back to Nice as soon as my divorce proceedings were over with NY International Shipping. After the very ugly and lengthy litigations my ex has put me through, it was such a breath of fresh air to be dealing with people that are easy to talk to and that provided the service that I needed. Thank you for the smooth business transaction!

The Right Decision

Oh, man! I just moved out of my parents’ house a few weeks ago for college. I remember my mom saying that I am now officially an adult and the first thing I needed to do responsibly on my own is get myself moving peeps to get all my stuff all the way to Boston. Geez…like I was going to haul all my things on the drive. No way, Jose! So, I went on the web and looked for moving companies. I contacted NY shipping, spoke with one of its super helpful agents, Ms. Valerie and I went for them. It was such a pleasurable transaction. And I’m proud to say, it was the first official adult decision I’ve done in my life and I was successful. LMAO!!!
