Today I went to this office to obtain a NYS ID card. This office is HEAVILY used but efficiently run. Friendly, helpful facilitators are stationed among applicants to guide, check identification materials, explain which documents count for how many points and direct individuals to the correct lines. Seating areas are large and comfortable for applicants waiting to submit their final applications and make payments. Even mothers with small children are accommodated and even though it was 14 degrees outside the air was circulating and the right temperature so people wearing heavy coats could remove their outer wear and sit comfortably while waiting for processing.



The processing time is relatively short. It took 1.75 hours from start to finish with well over 400 people seeking various types of documents and I did not observe one misdirected or misinformed applicant during the whole time. Bravo to the 125th Street branch of DMV - they handle their task with courteous professionalism and good humor.
