The Duke on 42nd Street is a 190-plus-seat black-box theater. It serves local, national and international performing arts companies. The theater hosts various plays and events, such as the 92nd Street Y's Harkness Dance Project, Dance Theater Workshop, the International Hispanic Theatre Festival, Marc Salem's Mindgames, Too!, New Professional Theatre and Playwrights Horizons and the NYC Tap Festival. Established in 2000, The Duke on 42nd Street is built and operated by The New 42nd Street and named in recognition of a generous grant from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation.
