Toast offers many things to many people. It was a trend setter in that it opened at a time when it wasn't as safe as it is now in the hood. A brainchild of Larry Good, (The Heights and Carne), built by Misha Kliot, (Carne), and with the stove manned by the legendary Big Jim Johnston, (whereabouts unknown), it quickly became and institution. Big Jim trained Pasquale, German, Jose, and Simon- who 9 years later are still with us and still pumping out the comida as fast and as well as is humanly possible in our Uptown location of Toast. Darin, our G.M. has fine tuned this Toast and is now down south for more of the same. Located near such academic environments as Columbia University, and the Manhattan School of Music, as well as the historic Riverside Church and Ulysses S. Grant's tomb, Toast is a great place weather you are sightseeing, studying, visiting, or living in the neighborhood. Toast has since opened a new "Downtown" location on 105th Street and Broadway. Still under Larry and Misha's gentle tutelage, Toast "Downtown" carries the tradition of great food, beer, wine, and cocktails at an affordable price, with outstanding daily specials a la chef Larry, and a wonderful outdoor dining area. Fast becoming a favorite with Columbia University students and faculty as well as the local Upper West sider's, we are proud of this location which has been in operation since January of 2008. So whether it's a quick burger, a full meal, or a weekend brunch visit us at either of these great locations. Don't forget Toast is also available for your private party or catering needs at either location.
