From the initial phone call to schedule an appointment with Mr. Kassel he seemed to be competent and have a flexible schedule; however, I quickly realized after the first two sessions that his primary interest is billing and money rather than the well being and happiness of this clients or patients if he had attained a doctor's degree. As an example, the first appointment he arrived 15 minutes late for a session that lasted only 45 minutes. Then he spent most of the remaining 30 minutes discussing billing, his cancellation policy, and how he dislikes insurance companies regulating his fees. In spite of Mr. Kassel wasting my time for the first session, my wife and I scheduled a second session. For the second session, his prior appointment ran over by nearly 10 minutes and he made the statement at the end of our 45 minute session which only provided 35 minutes that was exhausted and recommended us to schedule additional sessions separately to allow more time to discuss concerns separately. He also attempted to collect a copayment which was not applicable to my coverage after the second appointment. Furthermore, due to a work schedule conflict and my perception of poor service and advice my wife and I canceled the third appointment; however, Mr. Kassel has attempted to bill me for a canceled appointment that he admits he later heard cancellation instructions on his voice mail in accordance with his cancellation policy. Finally, Mr. Kassel himself is divorced. Statistically 50% of the married population will get a divorce. Why should I pay someone for their advise regarding marriage when they themselves as a professional marriage and family therapist cannot maintain a successful marriage?
