I'm and unable to work and haven't had my hair done for over a year, so my dad was nice enough to treat me. We purchased a Groupon offer for Modern Edge Salon to have my hair done. The deal was for a balayage or an ombré. I was so looking forward to this time!
When sitting in the salon chair, I described to Cailyn (the hairdresser), the look I wanted to achieve and showed her numerous photos as well. She proceeded to work on my hair, and after processing, and at the sink, I asked in excitement if I'm blonde (as I wanted). Cailyn answered yes, that I was .... Although I like the actual hair cut I received, I am very upset and disappointed with the color. I asked for a blonde balyage and received a color that I could have achieved with a box dye from a pharmacy! My hair is now a one tone brassy orange color. I've always had my hair colored, or highlighted blonde, and never had a problem until today. After "trying out" the color for a couple days I just could not come to accept the result -- after all, this is why we go to the "professionals" right?
I left a voicemail three days later, on Friday May 26 to discuss my concerns. The salon never returned my call so I followed up with an email. Someone named Christine emailed me on May 27 stating they would get back to me by the end of the day. Cailyn called me that afternoon and after expressing my concerns and displeasure I was told there is nothing she could do for me. She went on making excuses for her work, saying she did the best she could, and never offered a resolution for my displeasure. She stated for me to come back in 2 weeks if I'd like to have it "fixed," and that there would be an additional $80 charge.
I have never been to a salon in all my life that would be so unwilling to resolve a customers concerns. I am sickened by their lack of customer service and poor attention to detail. This reaffirms the quote..... " You get what you pay for", cheap price gets you poor, unprofessional service.

Today, the owner of Modern Edge Salon insulted me, spoke over me and yelled in an aggressive tone at me for attempting to get in touch with their salon and to get an appointment for the service that I had already paid for via Groupon. I came in and asked about appts in June (which they told me had no appts yet), in order to book a date for the service that I had paid for over a month ago. He said that they were totally booked up, that he would have to double check his schedule, and then complained about my schedule. I responded saying that these were new dates, but he continued to reiterate (even though I had only been offered an actual date once). He said that he would not do anything for me while with his client and dismissed me. I said I could wait until he was done. He fired back that he wouldn't talk today bc of other clients. I told him he could check between clients, and that he couldn't take 2 minutes to check his schedule for me (also a paying client)? This seemed to infuriate him. After a few minutes, he initiated conversation again. I told him that I had already paid for this package and that it would expire on August 4th, so I needed to get the treatment within a whopping four months. He began to get more angry, yelling and talking over me and ignoring what I was saying, which was that it didn't make sense for him to be offering me a date for... never. He finished off his rant by saying, "at this point, I refuse service!" So I left. But let's just say that this has been the worst I have ever been mistreated by any business in my whole life. This owner expressed his clear desire not to deal with me, a customer who paid and gave 4 months of availability for a single session. This is an obvious case of a business overbooking its services and ludicrously claiming that it had booked dozens per day, every day for the next four months/indefinitely. Please do not suffer the torment of trying to deal with these rude/fraudulent people at Modern Edge Salon.
