Located on a non assuming strip mall on Newport Blvd at the beginning of the Newport/Balboa peninsula near Lido, this is a cozy French restaurant family owned and operated since 1998. The sitting is casual yet elegant with tablecloth on the table. Authentic French menu a la carte and prix fixe menu as well. Nice wine list of mostly French wines.Located on a non assuming strip mall on Newport Blvd at the beginning of the Newport/Balboa peninsula near Lido, this is a cozy French restaurant family owned and operated since 1998. Great neighborhood bistro

This has been our favorite Sunday night neighborhood dining experience. Authentic French food, lovingly prepared and reasonably priced. Great combination! Do not be put off by the storefront location.

Overlooked

I have passed this restaurant many time without noticing it was there. But recently a friend brought me there and I had a wonderful time. You can choose a 4 or 6 course at a set price or order off the menu. We had the Duck Confit and mussels for appetizers. Both were delicous and came out in a timely manner. For our entrees we had the Duck Madera and the fish of the day which happened to be fresh caught sea bass. The Duck was AMAZING, tender and flavorful with a homemade mash potato and green beans. The sea bass was also great, good portion served with ratatoullie and rice. The desert menu looked tempting and the tart the people got next to us looked great, but we had no room left for desert. My waiter was and food runner were nice and competent at there jobs.

Love this place

Admittedly, I have not had a lot of French food, but I do know what GOOD food is, and Pescadou has it. The staff is very friendly (they gave my date and I free champaign drink for waiting 5 minutes after our reservation time). Go with the pre fix (sp) menu for a taste of everything.
