Senior Companion Program, a part of Coastal Community Action, provides in-home services to the physically disabled people and senior citizens. The program is conducted by senior companions who are adults up to the ages of 60 and above. The senior companions assist with daily tasks necessary to maintain independence and receive a stipend, a physical exam, and transportation costs to and from the work station. Senior Companion Program serves Craven, Carteret, Lenoir and Pamlico counties in North Carolina. Senior Companion Program is a private corporation, which was established in 1965 with a mission to assist families and individuals in becoming self-sufficient. Senior Companion Program is located in Newport, N.C.
