If you even think about traini...

If you even think about training in a martial art, then get off the couch and from behind your computer and go to East Wind Academy and check it out.

Don’t take my word on it or anyone else’s!!!! THIS IS ABOUT YOU!!!! The hour you spend talking to the owner, instructors and maybe participating in a free intro class will be the best hour of your week and maybe one of the most significant of your life.

With that said here is my two cents……..

East Wind Academy of Martial Arts is an outstanding place to train, study and learn Martial Arts. I have been training there for five years and can tell you the training never gets old, stale out of date. Hardly a week goes by that I don’t see a new technique, “relearn” one, or see something that just amazes me. It is certainly not your "McDojo" where you can get a black belt in a year. The core curriculum covers a variety of arts and progresses through a working knowledge and strong foundation as a junior belt to gaining a high degree of skill as a senior belt.

One of the things I like best is I can tailor the classes to suit my interests. I focus more on the real world, combat proven, arts and techniques and, and less on the sport fighting; but that is just me. The sport and cage fighting guys and gals are awesome at what they do.

The most important thing about the gym is the people that I train with and learn from. I have met most of my closest friends and associates at East Wind Academy. We are a tight group in the school environment and out. The owner and staff are extremely dedicated to the students. The training environment is second to none. We learn from the instructors and feed off each other. Like anything you get out of it what you put in it.

As for the comment on the kids class that was made below……This person doesn’t have a clue as to what goes on in that class, especially after looking at a picture. I have watched shy and awkward children grow into strong, respectful and independent leaders; skilled at a variety martial arts. The instructor to child ratio in the kid’s class is usually less than four kids to one adult. The kids don’t teach the classes, but as their skills develop, they are encourage them to take a leadership role.

Back to what I said at the beginning….. I’m there Monday through Thursday. Show up around 6pm and check it out. If you tell someone I sent you, they will find me in the school so we can train.

Best School Around

The owner is certified under some the most well known martial artist in the world...in this school you will learn real martial arts, not some watered down take your money garbage.

As for the other reviews they are way off base...kids don't the kids class, come in and watch a class

As for the ground class that only 5 techniques are taught that is crok...

don't take anybody's review at face value come and observe for yourself

You can not proceed in a Mixed...

You can not proceed in a Mixed Martial Arts career in this gym, literally only two to five moves are taught on the grappling class everyday and every year(8:00pm - 8:45pm), and the Muay Thai class is very unprofessional, the way fighting is taught there is like a video game, the instructor gives you a lesson on how to hit a number of twelve hits or I should say one good wave of punches and kicks on an opponent making it seem like you the other person "WILL" get KO'd if done(8:45pm - 9:30pm). It is only 3 days a week, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday and on Saturday the mix the two class and it is only for one hour(10:00am - 11:00am).

you get what you pay for

yeah, I see the tiny 9 year old leading class on the web page under children's classes and think: you get what you pay for. Pauline, after reading your yellowpages.com comment about "patient instructors" I think, huh? No thanks, I think I will look for a school that has ADULT instructors working with my child!

thanks for your review Pauline - makes me want to not check out this school since that picture tells me everything I need to know. And the picture above it of the two children overstretching their arms. Yeah, they seem to be teaching real quality there. If I want karate, I will go to a school that teaches karate, not everything under the sun with no depth or proper technique.

the pictures on the web site speak volumes about what this school is all about.

I appreciate the pictures on the web site with EastWind and the comments on Yellowpages.com
