----Charges over $200 an hour for his labor costs



Negatives:



--I was charged $400 for 40 minutes of work/parts.



--The part (Main board) online cost $148 plus $28 for overnight shipping.



--He priced another part (Evaporator Heater) at $250 and it only costs $55 online



--Within minutes of him leaving I checked online for the price of the part. I was shocked to learn he just charged me $200 in labor alone for 40 minutes of work.



--I immediately called him and explained I learned the price of the part and that I was unhappy about the cost of his labor. He initially wouldn't admit he charged $200 an hour for labor. He belabored a point about how much his auto service repairs cost him, declared no one ever calls him back about complaints and was completely dismissive of my point regarding the labor cost. He even begun laughing when I finally got him to admit the $200 an hour labor charge. He would not resolve the issue, reduce his labor fees or attempt to reconcile the issue in any way beyond saying "that's what it costs".



--He dumped hot water all over the Evaporator coil to defrost it. He was offended when I asked where all the water was going to go. He claimed it all would be caught by the catch pan. It didn't and overflowed. He never checked to see if it was overflowing - I caught it.



--He also left any residual water in the bottom of the freezer and the sides.



--He also wanted to charge me $250 to replace a $55 part - No Thanks.



Positives:



--He did call back within an hour of submission of a work request.

--He did arrive within 4 hours of his call back so I received same day service.

--He did explain things as he went. Explained his diagnostics and showed why things failed and what may fail soon.

--Overall, he was courteous and personable UNTIL he was challenged on his pricing. At that point he was offended I was even challenging his labor charge.



Summation:



I cannot and will not disparage someone for making a living and having to charge for his services. I'll not deny someone a fair price but $200 an hour is beyond extreme.



His negative, dismissive, attitude once I called him back to challenge his labor costs and unwillingness to reduce the labor charge is why he deserved this negative review. Judge for yourself if you desire his services.
