Provided by YP.comDitto to everything Samuel.david below said. I'm paying $1,200/month to listen to what sounds like a herd of elephants walking over my head. I get NO sleep at all here. The thumping overhead starts at 10:00pm every night and starts back up at 7:30am...even on weekends. I complained to the office and they said it was "just apartment living Mrs. Mann, you will just have to get used to it". STAY away from Park Place...not worth the money!!

Provided by YP.comSo often people only take the time to express their concerns about a business on a review. I believe that a standout place deserves the same time. Park Place Apartments in Oyster Point City Center is one of those places. The location speaks for itself, with an abundance of dining and shopping options within walking distance. I've lived all over Newport News and have never felt safer than I do walking around Oyster Point. The buildings require a key entry and parking is gated to further ensure safety. The complex has all the facilities you would look for in a luxury apartment, and added activities to make renters feel at home. The ladies at the leasing office are very pleasant and welcoming, while the maintenance staff is efficient and eager to assist. When we moved in, the apartment was spotless--not a mark on the walls or a stain on the carpet. The rental prices may seem expensive at first glance, but are actually quite comparable to other luxury apartments in Newport News. Plus, they offer discounts to certain employers and on specific units. I certainly recommend Park Place, and I find it disappointing to see so many unhappy reviews. Apartment living can be tough. I always choose the top floor to prevent having someone heavy footed above me, but if you do, you have to understand that there's only so much the leasing office can do to help. We have neighbors on both sides of our apartment, and rarely ever hear anything. As I mentioned, only those with an issue generally take the time to post a review. If you are tired of mediocre apartment living, give Park Place a call. You will be impressed.

Provided by YPmobileFor the cost of rent ($1300), this place is not worth it. Every night I was kept up late from the neighbors above us. After making several complaints the office said they could do nothing about it. There always seemed to be construction or loud events outside that residents were never warned of. The people in the office give you the run-around, going back on things they tell you and conveniently "forgetting" times you contacted them about issues. Moving out was the worst experience I have ever had with an apartment complex, and I have lived in several. You must give 60 days notice and then they will charge you for every little thing that isn't cleaned exactly how they liked. I scrubbed my bathroom with bleach until it was perfect, but I'm being charged $100 because they found a hair in the bathroom and there was a drip under the sink in the kitchen. The whole experience has been infuriating. They only want your money, and will find any way to get it. I have warned all of my friends and family about this place, and I am determined to let everyone know about these issues so they aren't miserable like I was! The shops nearby are nice but the limited parking and all of the other issues hardly make it worth it.

Provided by YP.comI would NOT recommend this place - have been here less than two months and its awful !! When signing for keys - made to change apartments - no for warning at all- very unprofessional and a real pain with setting up utilities and changing addresses that were all set for other apt. ! A/C and dishwasher broke within first 2 weeks, have to keep A/C at 71 just to maintain comfort ,noise from residents above us unbearable - notified office ............ no change. No designated parking - they make it seem when inquiring about apt , that there are enough spaces in the internal lot for 2 cars per apt - count the number of apt.s and spaces yourself - lucky to even find parking at times. And as for security - a total joke - front door to building locked but all people have to do is walk around to OPEN parking lot - parking lot gate SUPPOSE to close at 8 pm at night. Have lived heer 6 weeks and complained to office twice about gate not closing. This am discovered two of our bicycles were stolen- lock cut and bikes gone sometime between 7/11/13 and 7/14/2013. My advice choose else where - you will be happy you did!!!!!!!!!!

Provided by YP.comI have lived in several apartments, across several states throughout my life so far, and I have to say this is absolutely the worst. ALL the negative reviews I read on other sites are TRUE. When I read them 9 months ago, I made the mistake of not believing them, and just thought they were people that liked to complain but I was WAY wrong!
The apartments themselves are beautiful, but my view is onto a brown lawn, and I'm woken up at 6am every day by construction (no notice was given).
I put a maintenance request in with my initial inspection form that took SEVEN (7) months to get fixed, even when I asked about it in person etc.
I cannot wait to leave, but now that I'm trying they're telling me they're going to keep the security deposit (2 months rent) because I did not put the notice to vacate in writing. I signed a contract with another out of state company back in October, and told the ladies in the office then, and was thanked for my residency and thought that was it. Now they're claiming I never told them and are requiring 2 months additional rent!
One last note: When I called asking why I wasn't informed about a "Building-Wide Emergency Water Shut-off", even via an E-Mail blast, I was given no answer. When I mentioned that with all the smart-phones now a days, an email blast to all the residents would be a near instant and fairly effective way to warn residents, I was told they did not have the capabilities....TO SEND AN EMAIL!? That's when I knew I was done here.
The management company of KPM LLC is truly the WORST company I have ever dealt with, and I truly encourage all prospective residents to stay as far away as possible!

Provided by YP.comNice apartments with a pretty good sound barrier. Safe neighborhood. Parking got worse and worse as the units filled and many nights I couldnt park anywhere near my apartment. Moving out was the biggest hassle. 60 day notice required and they will charge you like crazy for the little things when you try to move out. They dont pay cleaners to come clean for the next tenant. You are required to make it cleaner than the day you moved in (baseboards, blinds, tubs, mopping, sweeping, i mean all of it.) If its not to their standards, expect charges. Most neighbors were friendly and owned small dogs. Pool party in the summer with prizes was great. Shops and restaurants are good, Bubbles salon too!
