The store is closed and the service portion open is less then helpful and severely overpriced.

I am not sure if they tried to rip my daughter off or it is just shoddy service. Either way, the refused to make it write. I would beware taking my car there. Please see my email below.

I would like to file another complaint against the Pep Boys location at 13200 Warwick blvd, Newport News, VA 23602. My daughter brought her car to that location after having it jumped. The man who performed the jumpstart on the vehicle mentioned that it had a decent charge and should have started. She drove it to your business and was told she needed a new battery. No diagnosis was performed, nothing was checked except for the battery.



At this point I decided to leave work to check on the proceedings. Upon arrival I was told that the battery was expired (it is from 2011) and that it was the cause. I

TOTAL RIP OFF! Do not go to this auto parts/service store!! Will make up stuff in order to turn an inspection into $1300 worth of work!!! Play in your ball joints are open to interpretation, but you best bet if there is nothing wrong, they will create a problem to make money!!! Sitting 3 hours for inspection

My less than satisfactory experience stems from two problems: 1) uninformed state inspector, and 2) TERRIBLE customer service.



First off, the state inspector didn't know the difference between an auxiliary lamp and a decorative one, claiming that if I attached a glow-in-the-dark sticker to my car and it didn't work, then I'd be in violation since the glow sticker would technically now be a lamp that isn't emitting light. I simply do not believe that. Other state inspectors are much more knowledgeable and actually know the nuances of Virginia's state inspection laws.



For the customer service side, once I asked the question about the lamps, the inspector became rude and huffy, as if I was making his day SO much more difficult for trying to understand the problem at hand. I also had to wait for ten minutes as he walked around the shop before actually addressing me, purposefully making me wait. I don't appreciate being ignored simply because I'm not going to blindly give you my money. Most of the time I like to give mechanics the benefit of the doubt, but these Pep Boys folks are definitely ripping people off.



I HIGHLY RECOMMEND GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE.
