For over 70 years, we at Silverman Furs have made it our family tradition to be devoted to fine furs and to the people who purchase them. In 1938, Samuel Silverman opened his shop on Washington Avenue in Newport News, a few blocks from the shipyard. His inventory then consisted of 6 furs borrowed from his brother-in-law.Silverman Furs moved to Historic Hilton Village in 1976, and we have vastly expanded our inventory. But what hasnt changed is the Silverman familys tradition of expert personal service. Sam Silverman knew almost every one of his customers by name, and his son Louis followed in the Silverman legacy, often seeing the children of some of his fathers original customers coming back year after year. Now, Jason has joined the business, carrying on the Silverman name as the third generation.Few furriers anywhere can match the experience of the Silvermans.So, when you consider buying a fur, dont get wrapped up in hype.
